Concerto

Newly recommended for brewing and distilling, Concerto should have universal appeal. It is a non- GN producer, so will be in demand in Scotland for whiskey production. At 105%, Concerto has a 2% yield advantage over Tipple. Openfield will be contracting 2010 harvest crops for large scale malting evaluation.

Quench

The highest yielding spring barley and fully approved for malt for brewing. Late to mature similar to Optic but with much improved straw characteristics. Very good rhynchosporium resistance and short stiff straw.

Breeder: Syngenta

NFC Tipple

The current mainstay of the UK brewing industry and fully accepted for export. 3% behind Quench for yield but with earlier maturity. Weak on rhynchosporium.
