Vistive varieties produce premium oil with the high oleic. low linolenic (HOLL) content necessary for the industrial catering industry, where cooking oil must be stable at high temperatures for long periods. The varieties must be grown on land where the risk of volunteers is low to avoid contamination of the crop. It is suggested that a rotation of 1:4 or greater is required. Contracts with high premiums are available for growers with the necessary rotation.
Openfield is the leading merchant in the development of Vistive oil production, with 2009 seeing our fourth harvest. Demand for the 2010 harvest is very strong, so please contact your local Farm Business Manager for details.
A high yielding, higher oil type with a more flexible sowing range than Splendor and excellent disease and straw characteristics, VI41OL attracts a premium of 17.5% of the base price (plus oil premiums).
