This key role plans and manages the execution of physical grain movement for Velcourt farmers, liaising with Farm Managers, Regional Farms Directors and Stores ensuring that all communication regarding grain movement and execution is accurate and timely.
To help build and maintain good working relationships, the successful candidate would be expected to visit Velcourt managed farms, attend regional meetings and relevant agricultural events as required.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of what it takes to deliver great service, have a great communication style, strong attention to detail, excellent time management and prioritisation skills and a proven track record of building good working relationships with key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Planning: Dealing with all aspects of planning in relation to Velcourt including the collection of grain commitment, final tonnage information, storage agreements and physical movement.
Contracts: Ensuring that contract execution is within the required contractual and risk positions. Ensuing all grain contracts are executed in a professional and timely way and in accordance with client instructions.
Customer Service: Provide the highest levels of customer service for the Velcourt Farm Managers and Farms Directors.
Reporting: Provide timely reporting of location, quantity and quality of each commodity to relevant colleagues who are making sales on behalf of Velcourt.
Market Knowledge: Provide our sales and trading team with real-time market and competitor intelligence and understand the requirements of each delivery destination.
Account Management: Maintain regular contact with required farmers. Develop a professional account management strategy and execute the strategy by using all available tools.
Communication: Maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders and use Openfield communication channels to deliver effective internal and external communications.
Product Knowledge: Ensure company product knowledge is kept up to date and of an excellent standard.
Management: Manages the ledger of Velcourt accounts. Ensure self-management for timekeeping, time management, focus on objectives, self-reflection and stress management.
Desired skills and experience:
• Self-motivated to learn, develop and grow in the role to include completion of required training.
• Excellent client relationship management abilities.
• Organised and systematic approach to work.
• Ability to engage with and work across a range of client-based teams with different levels of technical understanding, perspectives and needs.
• Confidence in engaging with corporate clients with an ability to accommodate a range of different business cultures and perspectives.
• Working knowledge of UK agriculture sector, or close equivalents including production, supply chains, policy and conservation, etc.
• Self-starter and driven.
• To be adaptable to changing client needs and responsive to short term challenges.
• Good problem-solving skills and a logical approach to finding solutions.
• Adept at both supporting colleagues and team working at all levels.
• Clear and engaging writing style, excellent verbal communication and the ability to present complex information in a user-friendly way.
